UTEP has adopted a new list of standards for desktop and laptop computer purchases for 2008-2009. Standardizing computer equipment increases efficiency and reduces the total cost of ownership across campus. The many systems now offered are the result of research and evaluation conducted by liaisons from each college and VP division, as well as Purchasing and Information Technology, with input from staff and faculty in each area.
Each new system will receive a standard UTEP installation which includes Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2007, Banner/Goldmine, Adobe Acrobat Reader, BIS/Define, Symantec AntiVirus and more. Any software not included at time of setup may be requested through the IT HelpDesk or Purchasing depending on licensing agreements available to UTEP staff and faculty.
