What is a pfishing scam?
A pfishing scam is a new trick that is being used to perform identity
theft. sent by e-mail, typically you receive a message from what
appears to be a legitimate bank or online retailer. In the message you
see information regarding your account with them and how it has become
either disabled or under watch. From there the message asks you to
visit what appears to be a legitimate link to their page and enter in
very personal information such as Social Security Number or other items
to repair or reactivate your account.
If you are using an older browser you can be fooled into visiting this
link. It will appear legitimate in older versions of Internet Explorer,
Mozilla/Netscape, and others.
Please know that the link is NOT legitimate and we strongly advise that
you simply delete the e-mail. Also note that no legitimate bank or
online retailer will ever ask you for personal information from an
e-mail. The only times SSN should ever be asked for is in the creation
of a new account and this typically happens by your request, not the
institution's.
Again do NOT click on the link they ask you to and simply delete the e-mail.

Faculty and staff email accounts are automatically generated and provided by Human Resources or your CAO/CSO when you are hired . After the account is created, you'll need to change your Webmail password before you can access your account.
