Permament Exhibits

The permanent exhibits are located on the third floor of the Museum and emphasize the southwestern United States and Mexico.

  • Geology Gallery - The world of geology – rocks and minerals in our daily lives, El Paso and UTEP’s mining and railroad history, volcanoes, earthquakes, and more.

  • Paleontology Gallery - features invertebrate and vertebrate fossils of our region, from algae 2 billion years old to dinosaurs in Big Bend

  • Cultural History Gallery - Features displays and dioramas of peoples that have inhabited the Chihuahuan Desert and the El Paso Region, and surrounding areas of the Southwest

  • Mammal and Bird Gallery - From roadrunners and coyotes to bears and hummingbirds, typical birds and mammals of the Chihuahuan Desert
