Network Connections

System Requirements Title
Wired and wireless network connections that provide access to electronic services including email and file storage are available at UTEP.
Features and Benefits
• Wired connectivity for offices and computer labs
• Wireless connectivity for multiple devices for UTEP students, faculy, and staff
• Wireless access for alumni, vendors, and other guests (UTEPWL1)
• Internet and Internet 2 access
Getting Started
To request a wired network port or to have one activated visit and enter a service request for a consultation.

Visit Wi-Fi at UTEP for additional Wi-Fi information and locations. If you are having trouble connecting to the UTEP wireless, visit and enter a service request. Please give details about the issue including the location, date and time so we can better troubleshoot or enhance the location’s wireless capabilities.
There is no cost to access UTEP's wired or wireless internet services.

New Data Ports - $150 per port
• New port installation
• Activate an existing port
• Installing a data port with new cabling and face plates, as well as connecting to
the campus network

Data Drop Relocations
• Relocate to a different location with an existing data port - No Cost
• Relocation of data ports requiring new wiring, face plate, connector - $50

Note:  Large number of port relocations or data ports requested as part of a renovation or remodeling project may be contracted out due to the additional structural work required in installing such data drops. The cost of contracted work will be charged accordingly to the project fund site.

Gigabit Ports
• Gigabit connections - $595 per port, 4 port minimum
• Gigabit ports cannot be relocated

All billable connection requests will require an account number before work will begin.

Illegally downloading or copying of any files using the UTEP wireless network is strictly prohibited. If suspicious activity is detected, the wireless account will be disabled. For more information, visit Acceptable Use of Information Resources.
