UTEP's Roundabout Construction PHASE II BEgins MAy 29th - August 15th, 2010

In an effort to better serve the traffic needs of The University of Texas at El Paso and surrounding communities, UTEP and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) official are making timely progress with the plan to ease traffic congestion on the western edge of the campus.

On May 29th, TXDOT will begin Phase II of the roundabout construction. Pedestrian pathways will be maintained around the construction zone through the project’s completion on August 15th. The UTEP parking garage entrances for regular and visitor parking will be accessible from the north and south. Exiting from the garage is only northbound. Electric Road will be accessible to service vehicles with northbound entry only. Parking lots S-3 and S-4 on the west side of south Sun Bowl Drive will be open and accessible during this phase.

For the second phase of the project, from May 29th through August 15th, vehicular access to University Avenue from Sun Bowl Drive will be re-opened. Except for entry and exit into parking lot S-3 across from Kelly Hall, traffic along south Sun Bowl Drive will remain northbound only.
