System Requirements Title
UTEP receives thousands of phone calls each month, up to 30,000 in August and January as each semester begins. To ensure all callers are assisted, UTEP uses a combination of an automated operator system and student staff to answer calls. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, calls are answered by the automated system. After business hours the automated system still directs the callers to departments and to staff and faculty extensions, allowing them to leave voice messages with their desired party.

• Student employees are NOT listed in Speech Attendant, but may be reached by
requesting the department in which they work

Listen carefully to the instructions before requesting the needed department or employee. Speak slowly and clearly for the automated to best locate the desired extension.

NOTE: If you receive a call on your UTEP phone from 9157475000, that is NOT a call from the Operators. That is how the phone system identifies a blocked caller ID. Calls from the Operator will be a 4-digit extension number such as 5000 or 1500.
